Passport to IT Careers

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!

Thanks to all for a successful 2017 Passport!

RITE’s Passport to IT Careers is the premier talent event of OHTec’s Tech Week.  Hundreds of students from public and private high schools gather with over one hundred employers, IT professionals, and educators to engage in an exciting, high-energy IT conference designed to grow the IT talent pipeline.

Over 100 volunteers from area employers, colleges and universities had the opportunity to interact with over 300 area high school students, and share their passion for IT.  We believe that the knowledge they shared will help cultivate an IT talent pool in Northeast Ohio that is highly skilled and industry-responsive, building a workforce that will serve as an economic driver for business growth. Special thanks to our industry partners and our college and university partners for making this year’s program a great success!

2017 PROGRAM

The fifth annual Passport to IT Careers was held at the Global Center for Health Innovation and the Cleveland Convention Center.  This enabled us to offer both our hallmark Passport sessions as well as some exciting new programming.

  • Northeast Ohio Passport: Students learned why they should return or stay in NEO to grow their IT career and build a life.
  • Education Passport: Students spoke with RITE colleges and universities about their academic and experiential programs, student life, and unique campus offerings.
  • Career Passport: Students met with IT professionals to learn firsthand about different careers.
  • Student IT Showcase: Students who participated in regional IT competitions, including the CoolTech Challenge, presented their projects to the student and business attendees.
  • Industry IT Showcase: IT employers from across the region hosted exhibit tables where students learned more about possible internships and future employment.
  • HIMSS Innovation Center: (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Students learned about healthcare IT and Cybersecurity through interactive kiosks and videos.
  • Global Center Showrooms: Students toured the Global Center showrooms and learned about companies such as the Cleveland Clinic, Cisco, Metrohealth, Philips, and GE.
